Mini-Fridge Art

Marshall will be working at a Boy Scout camp all summer.  He has requested a mini-fridge filled with a case of Dr. Pepper.  Since he is working outside and sleeping in a tent, all summer, in Texas, in Bastrop, under the pine trees, where there's no breeze, and the temperature can easily rise into the 110's.  I was happy to oblige.

Our neighbors gave us a beer fridge a few years ago that we've never used.

It's cute and nice but it has a beer logo on it.  This will never do for a teenage boy to take to a Boy Scout camp!

Here's the new front:

Argh!  The logo is sandwiched in between the windows.  So, here's the inside.

I cut the soda using my cricut and the Nifty Fifties cartridge.  I had to free-hand cut both backgrounds.  The "Jett's Drinks" was done using Sure Cuts A Lot.  I used sheets of duct tape except for the black; it's an old roll of black marble contact paper.  I kinda went about this backwards.  If I had to do it again, I do it better.  But, hey, the goal was to cover the beer logo and I did that.

  1. Really cool idea! Question: if he is going to be in a tent outside, where is the outlet to plug it in? You did a great job Michelle!

  2. Instead of a case of Dr. Pepper, how about a case of Gatorade and/or water. Much better to prevent dehydration. I know, I know - he's a Texan - gotta have that Dr. Pepper.

Party Decorations (Eagle Court of Honor) on the Cheap

These will be centerpieces on the tables at my Son's Eagle Court of Honor *Update:  See how I re-used these same cans for a patriotic luncheon.   The other night I was surfing around on the t.v. and ended up watching "Extreme Cheapskates."  I found myself thinking, "Ohhh... what amateurs!"  But, I couldn't tell anyone.  I mean I didn't want anyone to know how "cheap" I actually am. I really think they set some people up on that show.  I mean seriously?!?  You share a toothbrush to save money?  Buy 2 toothbrushes and each will last twice as long, same with the deodorant.  Yuck! Anyway, there was this lady only wanting to spend $50 on her 10 year old son's birthday.  Since I'm always looking for inexpensive ways to celebrate, I kept watching.  What?!?!  She had his birthday party at a retirement home for $30?!?!  What about having it at your house or the park for free, hello people?  Instead of the Elvis...
