How To Look Your Best, Part 3

Today is the 3rd part of this topic.  Go here to see day 1 .  And here is day 2 . Today in learning how to become a Chic Fabulous Fashionista by using Color Focus and Fit, we move on to Fashionista and Fit. Fit is oh so very important.  Your clothes should fit you.  They shouldn't be too tight or too loose.  Most clothing should touch your skin without pulling too much.  Many times we hide in big baggy clothes thinking that it hides our fat but what it really does is makes people think you are actually as big as the baggy clothes. You should dress the body you have now.  Don't wait to lose weight.  In fact, dressing your body now will give you more confidence so that dropping the weight will be easier.  You don't have to spend a lot of money, either.  Shop thrift stores, etc. and splurge on accessories that look great now and will look good after you get your body to your goal size. You want to create an hourglass, look for 2 C's...

How to Look Your Best, Part 2

Saturday, I wrote part 1 of this blog which you can find here where you get the beginnings of how to become a Chic Fabulous Fashionista using Color, Focus, and Fit.  The second part to being a Chic Fabulous Fashionista is using FABULOUS which stands for Focus.  Let people focus on you as a beautiful woman, not your clothes.  When someone looks at you let them think, "there's a well put together beautiful woman" not "wow, she has a crazy outfit on."  The biggest key is to have a focus and not make someone who looks at you not know where to look.    No longer should clothing be all "matchy-matchy" but they should go together.  If you try to wear baby blue pants, baby blue blouse, baby blue shoes, and a baby blue belt, you may get dragged off to a nursing home.  So, you've heard that mixing prints is the new in thing but how do you do it with out looking crazy?  Only have 1 strong pattern and the other pattern should work as a neutral....

How to Look Your Best

Last summer, my mom and I were joking about someone who, how do I say this, was not looking her best.  I mean truthfully, I should've taken a picture and sent it to peopleofwalmart.  Mom told me I should teach a class about fashion and invite this person.  Well, that never happened but I guess Mom told someone else that I could teach a fashion class and lo and behold on Tuesday I'm doing just that.  For those of you who can't make it, I'll give some of the info here. First, I decided to come up with something catchy to remember to organize my thoughts.  It is "You can be a Chic Fabulous Fashionita using Color, Focus, and Fit. Chic also stands for Color.  When I was in high school, my mom borrowed a copy of "Color Me Beautiful" and it changed my life.  My sisters, Mom, and I were all figuring out each others seasonal coloring.  I remember we got down to 2 colors and we were looking all over the house for items that we could drape in front of me...

Card Making Contest

I've decided to enter a card making contest and to do that you must post your cards on your blog and then link from the contest site.  I apologize to the contest sites.  I just discovered you so, I don't have any of your products to use in my cards. This first card is for the Mojo Monday contest.  It was created with several different papers.  The "Thanks" is a stamp from Stampin' Up.  The flower is a punch with about 5 layers.  The next two cards are theWIW Sketch Challenge M212.The flower paper is from Everyday Bonjour and the stamps are Stampin' Up.  Thanks for looking and wish me luck in my first card contests!

The Mushroom Eaters

I was re-telling this story recently and the person I told it to said I needed to write it down.  So, here goes: The boys were pretty little, Marshall was probably about 4 and Garrett about 3.  I remember the night before we had stopped to eat pizza on our way home from a camping trip.  At the salad bar, I asked the boys if they wanted mushrooms to which I got an emphatic, "No" from each of them.  I didn't think much of it and life went on. The next evening, I was cooking spaghetti for supper.  The boys were playing in the yard.  They come running in the house, up the stairs and say, "Mommy, Mommy, we ate mushrooms!"  They were so proud of themselves while I had an overwhelming feeling of dread coming over me.  Being the good mom that I am, I got all the details; they both only nibbled about 1 square centimeter of a mushroom from the yard.  I then proceeded to call poison control.  I told poison control what happened and they asked,...

Crazy Mixes

Chris thinks I'm crazy.  He came home today to find that I had made homemade laundry detergent.  He said in his wildest dreams, he never would have thought that is what I would be doing today.   Chris thinks I've gone off the deep end.  But, this really isn't that absurd for me.  When the boys were babies, I made homemade baby wipes.    But, I didn't stop there.  I made Cream of Something Soup Mix, Taco Seasoning Mix, Dry Onion Soup Mix, Chocolate Cake Mix, Cornbread Mix, and Tortilla Mix. And, I have homemade pancake and muffin mix that I use all the time.  Of course, I've never actually made homemade tortillas before.  No excuses now:  I have a mix!  I need to figure out which type of containers I like best.  If you go to the blogs with the original recipes you'll see all matchy and cute containers.  Oh, well.  I just gotta be me!  I'll have to remember to tell all of you how these work out later....

I Love Teaching

You know, I really enjoy teaching.  I loved it when I was able to homeschool my boys. I've always enjoyed teaching theatre and now I'm having fun with 2nd grade.  It's nice to have the time to do cool things for my students. I'm so excited about this week.  On Monday, in Bible we are learning about the Moses leading the Hebrews in the desert.  If I get it made, I plan to serve the kids "manna" while teaching.  In Social Studies, we are learning about how cloth is made and I'm in the process of making cardboard looms for each of my kids so they can learn to weave.  On Tuesday, I have a 2 very special guests coming, Srgt.  Bindseil and his K-9 partner, Ringo.  (We are studying mammals in Science.)  Also, on Tuesday, we are learning how to dye cloth so we are making tye-die t-shirts.  On Friday, I already have a quiz made up on-line for the kids to take that will be automatically graded and entered into my grade book.  I hope the kid...
